SmartPrinter Ver. 1.4(1) RELEASE NOTES

Upgrade instructions:
=====================
For all operating systems:

   1. Make a backup copy of the SmartPrinter folder (c:\smartprinter\).

   2. Unzip the SmartPrinter upgrade file, and copy all files in the zip file to the 
      existing SmartPrinter folder (c:\smartprinter\). Overwrite all existing files.

      Note: if the file was downloaded from the SmartPrinter web site, you need to
            open the zip file, if you are upgrading from a cd of SmartPrinter, all the
            file already exist in the \update\ folder.

For Microsoft Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 operating systems:

   3. Rename the file c:\smartprinter\smp.nt to c:\smartprinter\smartprinter.dll

   4. Make a backup copy of the existing smartprinter.dll file, it is located in the folder
      c:\winnt\system32\spool\prtprocs\w32x86\

      Note: if your windows is installed in a different folder then c:\winnt\
            replace the proper windows folder with \winnt\ in the above path.

   5. Stop the "Print Spooler" service from the windows services.

      Note: if the "TCP/IP Print Server" is running it will be stopped as well.

   6. copy the renamed file c:\smartprinter\smartprinter.dll over the existing file
      at the folder c:\winnt\system32\spool\prtprocs\w32x86\smartprinter.dll

   7. Start the "Print Spooler" service from the windows services.

      Note: if the "TCP/IP Print Server" was running and was stopped when you stopped the
            "Print Spooler" service you will need to start it as well, it will not
            automatically start.


For Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME operating systems:

   3. Make a backup copy of the existing smartprinter.dll file, it is located in the folder
      c:\windows\system\

      Note: if your windows is installed in a different folder then c:\windows\
            replace the proper windows folder with \windows\ in the above path.

   4. Restart the copmputer in MS-DOS mode (command prompt).

   5. Delete the existing smartprinter.dll file, it is located in the folder
      c:\windows\system\

   6. Restart the computer in the regular way.

   7. Rename the file c:\smartprinter\smp.98 to c:\smartprinter\smartprinter.dll

   8. copy the renamed file c:\smartprinter\smartprinter.dll to where the preious file were
      at the folder c:\windows\smartprinter.dll.

   9. Start the MySetup.exe utility and reconert all the printers you used as SmartPrinters.



New Features in Version 1.4(1)
===============================

1. New script functions: #DeleteTopEmptyLines(), #DeleteBottomEmptyLines(),
   #DeleteLeftEmptyColumns(), #DeleteRightEmptyColumns() were added.

Bug Fixes in Version 1.4(1)
============================

1. Some bugs were fixed in the GDI Printing.

2. a bug was fixed in the SMPSubmit mechanism.

3. Some small bugs were fixed in the emulation conversion, mainly in Prescribe conversion.
